The skill
Documentation update is a skill for plugin marketplace maintainers that regenerates agents.md, agent-skills.md, plugins.md and usage.md from marketplace.json with Jinja templates whenever plugins change.
Only when you ask.
The habit
Plugin docs match the marketplace.
↻ Runs by itselfmarketplace.json changes
When does it start? How does it check its work? What does it remember?
Stops after one regeneration per change, with one retry.
Run marketplace validation and fix errors before generating.
Run python doc_generator.py --dry-run to preview the output.
Run python doc_generator.py to write the docs into docs/.
Check links, formatting and stats against the marketplace.
Commit the docs together with the plugin change.
It writes only in its own folder and asks you before anything goes out.
Read both lists. If the left one sounds like you, the Documentation Update skill helps.
The skill says /claude-plugin:create and /claude-plugin:update should invoke it after updates.
The skill lists Python 3.8+ with the standard library only.
Copy the prompt at the top into your agent. It installs the skill from geoffjay/claude-plugins and sets up the habit. Or run npx skills add geoffjay/claude-plugins --skill documentation-update.
