The skill
The slack web api skill helps developers find the right Slack method, read its scopes, token type and arguments from the live docs, call it safely, page with cursors and handle rate limits and errors.
Only when you ask.
The habit
Slack API calls stay correct.
↻ Runs by itselfPR changes Slack calls
When does it start? How does it check its work? What does it remember?
Stops after one pull request and at most 30 methods per run.
The agent collects every family.method name the changed code calls.
It confirms each name on the live methods.md index at docs.slack.dev.
For new methods it reads the method page for HTTP verb, scopes, token type, arguments and rate tier.
It checks that the code reads ok and error, and honors Retry-After on ratelimited.
Collection calls must loop on response_metadata.next_cursor until it is empty.
Findings go into a review comment and the log; no write method is ever run without the developer saying yes.
It writes only in its own folder and asks you before anything goes out.
Read both lists. If the left one sounds like you, the Slack Web API skill helps.
It only reads docs. The skill lets read-only methods run directly but asks before any method that posts, deletes or changes state.
The skill hands those to the slack:block-kit skill and treats them as opaque arguments.
Copy the prompt at the top into your agent. It installs the skill from slackapi/slack-skills-plugin and sets up the habit. Or run npx skills add slackapi/slack-skills-plugin --skill slack-api.
Yes. It is published under MIT. Habit is free too.
