The skill

The codex memory curator skill audits Codex memory for stale claims, cross-repo leaks, sensitive entries and config problems, then routes review, planning or backed-up cleanup for developers who rely on Codex.

Only when you ask.

The habit

Codex memory stays true and safe.

↻ Runs by itselfmonthly memory review

How the habit works.
You don't have to.

Three questionsWhen does it start? How does it check its work? What does it remember?

One run, step by step.
Then it stops.

Stop ruleStops after one review record per run; cleanup always needs a separate request.

  1. 01

    Announce the route

The agent states review-file as the selected route, the Codex home and that nothing will be changed.

  2. 02

    Inventory memory

It runs node scripts/inventory-memories.mjs to list memory files without dumping them.

  3. 03

    Scan for risks

It runs node scripts/scan-memory-risks.mjs --json, where exit code 1 means findings, not failure.

  4. 04

    Classify claims

Each atomic claim gets one label such as KEEP, DELETE or MOVE TO AGENTS.md, with risk tags and confidence.

  5. 05

    Check conflicts

Disputed claims are checked against only the repo files needed, since current files beat stored memory.

  6. 06

    Write the record

It fills assets/review-report-template.md into one new redacted record and makes no cleanup.

What it may do.
Nothing more.

Safe by defaultIt writes only in its own folder and asks you before anything goes out.

Is it for you?
Use it when it fits.

Quick checkRead both lists. If the left one sounds like you, the Codex Memory Curator skill helps.

Use it when

  • ✓ Codex memory feels stale or wrong
  • ✓ you suspect secrets in memory
  • ✓ memory leaks across repos

Skip it when

  • – you want to edit repo docs
  • – you need Cursor memory reviewed

Questions

Codex Memory Curator skill, answered.

Will the loop delete memories?

No. The skill never lets agent-started runs infer cleanup, so this loop only reviews. You start a cleanup route yourself.

What if secrets turn up?

The skill redacts them, names file and line when it can, and recommends removal and rotation.
